Tuition Terms and Conditions

 

Welcome parents and students! We are very excited about offering this exceptional music program to the Wilmington area. In order to provide the highest quality music instruction, and special classes, we request certain steps be taken to comply to our program.

Registration for The Music School of Wilmington (hereafter The MSW) is required before the first lesson, and considered complete when the registration form has been completed and returned with a $25.00 registration fee. Time requests are to be arranged at the time of registration, but will remain available to prospective students until reserved with final registration.

The MSW has two programs of tuition available. Students must sign up for either a Six (6) or Twelve (12) month contract. Payments are accepted in full, or on a monthly basis. (*Current Tuition Bonus: If you sign up for and pay in advance for a 12 month contract, you will save $70.00! See more on this below). We accept the following payment methods: Personal Check, Bank Debit Cards or Automatic Credit Card Billing (Visa or MasterCard).  You must pay in advance for the first month of lessons when you begin, however subsequent tuition payments must be made through an automatic credit card debit thereafter. Delinquent accounts left unpaid after thirty days are subject to a late fee plus 1.5% added daily to the total tuition amount until the balance is paid in full. Payment is due on the 1st of each month. You will be considered late if not received by the 5th of each month and a late fee of $20 will be added to the account.  Checks should be made out to:  The Music School of Wilmington. 

Credit cards refused or checks returned due to insufficient funds will be subject to a $30 charge.

Credit Card Payments – You may elect to pay monthly by placing your valid Visa or MasterCard card number, the expiration date and the CVC Code located on the back of the card, on file at The MSW for automatic billing on the first of each month.  By electing payment by credit card you authorize The MSW to bill your credit card for the tuition, fees and materials as defined in this Agreement and the method of payment selected.  Rejected charges are subject to applicable late fees as well as fee for credit card refusal.

Yearly tuition is based on 44 weeks in a given fiscal year, Teaching is performed 48 weeks. Note: There will be no lessons for the week of Christmas through New Year’s Day, one week for Spring Break (as per the New Hanover County Public School Calendar), the week of July 4th, and the week of Thanksgiving.  If the student has no absences, they will receive two bonus lessons.  Students are responsible for their lessons, materials, and transportation to and from lessons. Instructors will not be liable for students before or after the student’s scheduled lesson time(s). Students are to follow the MSW request that there will be NO FOOD, DRINKS, GUM, OR CANDY ALLOWED IN THE TEACHING STUDIOS. Accidents do happen so it’s best that we abide by the rules. Shoes and shirts are required and no swim trunks, soccer cleats or golf shoes allowed. Students are expected to bring all materials for each lesson including books, worksheets, sticks, etc. and maintain a regular practice schedule.  Children not receiving lessons must remain in designated lobby areas and be supervised by a parent or guardian. They may not enter a teacher’s studio unless invited by an instructor and must respect the provided instruments i.e. Pianos, Drums, Guitars, and the personal property of others.  Parents will be held responsible for any damages.

Lessons are offered for thirty-minutes, forty-five minutes or one hour lessons.  Rates are as follows:

Thirty (30) minute lessons:  $35.00
Forty-five (45) minutes:       $40.00
Sixty (60) minutes:              $60.00

Lesson on Disc:  $5.00 per lesson/$2.50 per lesson if you provide disc

* The cost of additional music supplies, including: drumsticks, practice pads, text books, manuscript paper, and other supplies, will be billed on the   

  student’s monthly account.

 

Yearly rates are as follows (4 times per month)

Thirty (30) minutes:             $1,540.00
Forty-five (45) minutes:       $1,760.00
Sixty minutes:                     $2,640.00

If annual tuition is paid in full, a discount amount of $70.00 dollars will be taken off of the yearly tuition.

Additional family members will receive a 10% discount for private lessons.

 

SPECIAL ENSEMBLE CLASSES ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR ENROLLMENT. PLEASE SEE BROCHURE FOR DESCRIPTIONS AND PRICES.

Absences:  Please notify the school within twenty-four hours prior to any lessons that cannot be attended as scheduled. If a lesson is missed without any prior notification the lesson will not be rescheduled. If a student needs to miss consecutive lessons, please inform the School so that arrangements can be made to reschedule the lesson times and dates of the missed lessons.  Lesson times and dates will only be reserved if tuition payments are continued in the absence of the student.

Cancellations:  Lessons may be cancelled at any time with a Thirty-Day Notice of Cancellation Form available at The MSW. All regular lessons will continue to be billed until a Thirty-Day Notice of Cancellation form is received verifying that further lessons be discontinued. Lessons or classes missed by the student are only excused with a 24 hour notice, or lessons will not be refunded. (Exceptions- if Administration has been notified about a student’s situation i.e.: doctor appt, family emergencies, or school conflicts. etc).  If lessons or classes are cancelled by the student’s instructor, The MSW will reschedule the lesson within the same month with a qualified instructor provided the student agrees on the rescheduled date.

Lessons will continue during the summer and school vacation dates except for the major holidays listed above when the school will be closed.

In the event lessons are cancelled by the school due to weather conditions or unforeseen closings/delays, students will receive make-up lessons.  An announcement will be posted on local television stations.  Extended closures will be made up during holidays or breaks.
